The Laundry Family Album
Let us introduce you to the Laundry team (or as Rachel likes to refer to us, The Laundrettes).
Rachel:
Rachel is the bossy one. Rachel’s best thing about working at The Laundry is the map of London she can now keep in her head not
her handbag, not that she has ever gotten lost anywhere. Anywhere. Ever. Her friends call her the compass or the leader, she's fine with either. Rachel also loves writing the blog but has got in trouble with
her friends for drawing on her personal life for inspiration (click here for examples). Rachel loves stickers and dancing,
but dislikes the sound of people eating apples or cucumbers, or radishes, or anything with a crunch.
Steph:
The words that you will probably hear Steph say most often are: ‘curious’, ‘wild’, ‘magic’ and ‘wicked.’ Being a person full of yeses, Steph likes many things
including big weather, fairies, original turns of phrase, lists, filling in forms, and cakes made from root vegetables.
Dancing to reggae outdoors and talking about how important Russian forests are, are necessary parts of her life. Steph is
very much looking forward to the day the laundrettes have their own theme song and matching dresses with outlandish ruffles.
Harry:
Harry comes up as ‘happy’ in predictive text- and mostly she is just that. Things that maker her happy include cheese and
pickle sandwiches, setting out on a fine day, the view of London from Brockwell Park (the lesser know opposite of Primrose
Hill. Almost) and giving competitively sound travel advice to her friends (i.e. ‘Nope! You definitely want to get the 37,
that’s the quickest way’) Things that make her frown are getting stuck between stations on the underground and leeks that
squeak when you chew. Harry dreams of a world where every office has its own Laundry service.
Jimmy:
Jimmy started at The Laundry in 2008 and has amazed the Launderettes with his tremendous commitment to the cause. He likes
waking up in the morning and also enjoys a spot of painting in his spare time. He likes working with people who know what
they’re doing (you know, like us) and his boys (JJ and Sunday) who work with him on the truck. The only thing he doesn’t like
is when people forget to put their bags out on time, but other than that he’s free of dislikes.
JJ:
JJ has been working on The Laundry since the beginning. He has a mean swing when it comes to flinging bags into the back
of the truck. He says: ‘I enjoy myself, I love my Job! I love my customers! JJ is the Laundry master!’
Sunday:
Sunday couldn’t have been given a better name to suit him. He’s very relaxed, but sometimes he jumps up to treat us to a
little dance in the cab of the truck, while parkes . He likes fizzy drinks and is very good at cruising down the street with two wheelie
bins full of Laundry bags.
