Freebies

I saw my friend last night and he was showing off his freebie from London Fashion Week…it included L’Oreal make you hair sleek stuff, L’Oreal nude lipstick, a L’Oreal lip gloss (the one with the ‘heart’ shaped applicator, I think it’s endorsed by Scarlet Johansson) and a Penelope Cruz make up set. Wow, what a good selection for a man?!

I don’t remember getting that many free things personally. The occasional travel card left behind in the ticket machine is pretty good though. Also finding money in my pockets when I forgot about it (that’s kind of free isn’t it?).

Free stuff is generally rubbish though, I find. Free pens, free ugly mugs nobody want to drink out of, free stuff that you don’t want but then feel guilty throwing away. Oh the joys are entwined with so many complications.

The Mecca of free stuff is of course Freecycle. It’s all about what you don’t want and other people do…lovely. I haven’t used it my self, my house mates have, to gather up ridiculous numbers of white plastic garden chairs or given away fish pumps to strange old men.

Then there’s the story of the man who swapped and swapped and swapped things working his way up from a paper clip to a house…or is that just urban legend???

This is what it says here: http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/boycotts/boycotts_list.htm

    ” L’Oreal
Naturewatch has a long-standing boycott of L’Oreal due to its continued use of animal testing for cosmetics. The French multinational uses ingredients that have been tested on animals, despite public statements to the contrary. It has also been criticised for lobbying against an EU ban on animal testing for cosmetics.
