Every month, we honour those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their recycling quest

November 2007

Nicholas James Gallery are fervent recyclers! They hate waste and do their best to be good: everyone there separates the paper from the plastic – it’s a habit they got into got into when they opened up shop two and a half years ago.
They started retailing their own range of fine contemporary jewellery in 1999 and moved to a large new showroom two years ago and have just opened a new contemporary jewellery gallery – showcasing a dozen superb jewellery designers from all around the world –

Nicholas James Gallery. Nick James says, “When you see the amount of waste generated it makes you weep. With a bit of thought we have managed to reduce our waste significantly – and process what we do thoughtfully. It doesn’t take any extra time and once people are in the habit – it becomes second nature.
We may be peddlers of carbon, but we try and leave a smaller carbon footprint than others!”

Nick heads up the team of Heather, Stuart, Zoe and Laurie – mad jewellery buffs and all round good eggs.
“Our Nicholas James shop is very 2001 – A Space Odyssey. Minimal chic, just like Nick.”

They design and make all their own jewellery and have adorned such people as Derren Brown, made wedding rings for Vernon Kay and Tess Daly, and the munitions officer from Star Trek (seriously!)…
Have a look at their snazzy comp slip here. http://www.thelaundry.biz/imahero/oldcharmer Rachel thought it was Nick, the man himself- but he said ‘No, that is not me on the comp slip – I am a mere 38 years old (and have all my hair). ‘

I need a hero - holding out for a recycling-hero-of-the-month til the end of the night - you gotta be strong (to lift the Laundry bags) you gotta be fast (to carry them down to the street) and you gotta email us to tell us your recycling story! If you’re a hero, then tell us now! Send us an email, recycle@thelaundry.biz or call us, 020 8404 6330 to chat about your green heroics.
