MCF Corporate Finance are a little office of just five people; they do important things in the world of cross border and domestic M&A transactions in the German and Nordic markets (ooh) but more importantly, they are also heroes in the world of recycling.

When Karina joined MCF, she was pleased to learn that the office was recycling its paper. What she wasn’t pleased to see was that half this paper ended up in the bin. When The Laundry started recycling cans and plastic bottles, Karina found her distress further increased as yet more recyclable items ended up in the bin.

Something had to be done, so Karina came up with the idea of introducing a 50p fine for every stray can or piece of paper that made its way into the bin. As a few people were starting to find themselves out of pocket, discussions ensued and a bit of research was carried out into the finer intricacies of recycling – what types of plastic go into our orange sacks and so on. Armed with this knowledge, recycling became an office competition; spying in other people’s bins was not unknown in an effort to catch their co-workers out!

Now the guys at MCF are experts at what goes in their Laundry sacks and are recycling everything they can that comes their way. They even get a little treat when the fine pot starts getting full – the money is spent on cakes, chocolate or even if a few post-work drinks.

Here at The Laundry we think this is fab way to get your office recycling as much as possible (we don’t need to tell you why that’s good!), understand why you can recycle some stuff and not others and even get a bit of chocolate into the bargain! Karina is very modest about her super clever scheme – she thinks it’s quite funny we’ve made MCF our recycling hero of the month because they have so much fun doing it!

I need a hero – holding out for a recycling-hero-of-the-month til the end of the night– you gotta be strong (to lift the Laundry bags) you gotta be fast (to carry them down to the street) and you gotta email us to tell us your recycling story! If you’re a hero, then tell us now! Send us an email, recycle@thelaundry.biz or call us, 020 8404 6330 to chat about your green heroics.
